Photosynthetic Character at Various Growing Stages in Strawberry (Fragaria grandiflora Ehrh .)

Abstract
This experiment was to examine the appropriate light and temperature conditions and the light saturation and comperation points at various growing stages of Fragaria grandiflora. 1. At the leaf opening stages, the light saturation point and photosynthetic rate at 20¡É were 700 ¥ìE/§³sec and 23.5 §·/d§³hr, respectively, which were higher than those at 15 and 25¡É. 2. At the flowering stage, light saturation point was 800 ¥ìE/§³see at both 15 and 20¡É, but photosynthetic rate was the highest at 15¡É. 3. At the fruit developing stage, the 1 fight saturation point was 800 ¥ìE/§³sec at all the three temperature levels and photosynthetic rate showed the highest at 20¡É. 4. The light saturation point at postharvest stage was 8¡É ¥ìE/§³sec, and photosynthetic rate of 12.2 §·/d§³hr at 15¡É was higher than those at other temperatures. The photosynthetic rate at 15¡É, however. was much lower compared with that of other growing stages. 5. At the runner growing stages, the light saturation points were approxi-mately 700 ¥ìE/§³sec, regardless of temperatures. The photosynthetic rate, 15.1 §·/d§³hr, estimated at 15¡É... was the higher than at other temperature(20, 25¡É)levels. 6. Photosynthetic rate, estimated mainly on the basic of the light saturation point, was the highest at the leaf opening stage, and decreased gradually its the growing stages proceeded. 7. Leaf chlorophyll content, 1.66 §¶/g F. W, was the highest at the leaf opening stage. As the growing stage proceeded, leaf chlorophyll content decreased gradually, finally dropping down to 0.7 §¶/g F. W at the runner growing stage. 8. The specific leaf weight at leaf opening stage was 4.5 §·/§², which was the lowest among the growing stages checked. But, as plants continue to develop further, specific leaf weight also increased gradually.
